Free 15-Minute Chiropractic Check in South Woodford
Not sure whether chiropractic is the right next step?
Sometimes the first question is not, “When should I start treatment?”
It is simply:
“Is this the type of problem a chiropractor may be able to assess?”
At The Back Pain Centre, you can begin with a free 15-minute chiropractic check. You can choose either:
- A face-to-face appointment at our South Woodford clinic
- A telephone conversation with a chiropractor
There is no charge for either option.
The purpose is to give you an opportunity to explain what you have been experiencing and to help establish whether a full chiropractic consultation may be an appropriate next step.
Choose the option that feels right for you
Some people prefer to meet a chiropractor in person and have their movement briefly checked.
Others would rather begin with a private telephone conversation from home.
Both options are available because the first useful step is often gaining some clarity before committing to a full appointment.
Option 1: Free face-to-face chiropractic check
The face-to-face check takes approximately 15 minutes at The Back Pain Centre in South Woodford.
You will have an opportunity to briefly explain:
- What you have been feeling
- Where you notice the problem
- When it started
- What movements or activities affect it
- Whether it is interfering with work, sleep, exercise or everyday life
- What you have already tried
With your consent, the chiropractor may then carry out a brief hands-on screening.
This may involve observing how you stand, sit, turn, bend or move and briefly checking the area that concerns you.
The purpose is to consider whether your presentation resembles the types of musculoskeletal problems that our chiropractors regularly assess and whether it would be sensible to proceed to a full clinical consultation and examination.
By the end of the check, you should have a clearer understanding of the available next steps.
What the free face-to-face check includes
- Approximately 15 minutes with a chiropractor
- A brief discussion of your main concern
- A limited movement, posture or physical screening where appropriate
- An explanation of whether a full chiropractic assessment may be suitable
- An opportunity to ask initial questions
What it does not include
The free check is not a full diagnostic appointment.
It does not include:
- A complete medical and clinical history
- A full neurological or orthopaedic examination
- Diagnostic X-rays
- A formal diagnosis
- Chiropractic treatment
- A report of findings
- A treatment programme or guaranteed outcome
Those elements require a properly scheduled clinical assessment.
Option 2: Free telephone conversation with a chiropractor
You may prefer to speak with a chiropractor by telephone before deciding whether to visit the clinic.
During the free 15-minute conversation, the chiropractor will listen to your concerns and ask focused questions about what you have been experiencing.
These may include:
- Where the symptoms are located
- How and when they began
- Whether they are constant or intermittent
- Which movements make them better or worse
- Whether you have experienced something similar before
- Whether you have already consulted another healthcare professional
- Whether you have undergone any previous tests or investigations
The purpose is to understand whether your complaint sounds similar to presentations that our clinic has previously assessed and whether a face-to-face chiropractic assessment may be an appropriate next step.
A telephone conversation cannot provide a physical examination, diagnosis or treatment. It can, however, help you decide whether booking a full appointment is reasonable or whether you should seek advice from another healthcare professional.
If we do not believe that a chiropractic assessment appears appropriate, we will tell you.
What happens after the free check?
There is no automatic assumption that you must proceed with care.
After speaking with the chiropractor, the next step may be:
- Booking a full chiropractic consultation and examination
- Obtaining additional information before making a decision
- Speaking with your GP or another healthcare professional
- Taking no further action at this stage
The purpose of the free check is to help you make a more informed choice.
Ready for a complete chiropractic assessment?
If you already know that you want a full consultation and examination, you do not need to book the free 15-minute check first.
Our current £60 new-patient chiropractic offer includes:
- A private consultation with a chiropractor
- A neurological, orthopaedic and chiropractic examination
- Diagnostic X-rays where clinically justified
- A verbal report of findings
- An explanation of the examination and imaging findings
- Personalised recommendations based on the findings
X-rays are not automatically taken. They are considered only when the chiropractor believes that imaging is clinically justified.
The £60 assessment is more appropriate when you are ready for a detailed investigation of your complaint rather than a brief preliminary conversation.
Which appointment should I choose?
Choose the free 15-minute check if:
- You are uncertain whether chiropractic is relevant to your concern
- You would like to meet or speak with a chiropractor before committing
- You want to explain your situation and ask some initial questions
- You are deciding between different healthcare options
- You would like to know whether a full assessment may be worthwhile
Choose the £60 full assessment if:
- You are ready for a complete consultation and examination
- You want the chiropractor to take a detailed medical and clinical history
- You require neurological, orthopaedic and chiropractic testing
- You would like a verbal explanation of the findings
- You understand that X-rays may be recommended only where clinically justified
- You are ready to receive personalised recommendations
A simple first step
You may already have noticed that something does not feel or move as it normally does.
You may also be unsure whether that means you need chiropractic care, another form of healthcare or simply more information.
The free check gives you 15 minutes to begin answering that question.
You can come to the clinic for a brief face-to-face screening or speak privately with a chiropractor by telephone.
Choose whichever feels more comfortable.

Frequently asked questions
Is the 15-minute chiropractic check really free?
Yes. There is no charge for the brief face-to-face check or the 15-minute telephone conversation.
Is the free check the same as the £60 chiropractic assessment?
No.
The free appointment is a brief preliminary suitability check. The £60 appointment is a complete chiropractic consultation and examination, including X-rays where clinically justified and a verbal report of findings.
Will I receive treatment during the free check?
No. The free appointment is intended for an initial conversation and limited screening. It is not a chiropractic treatment appointment.
Can the chiropractor diagnose me during a telephone call?
No. A diagnosis requires an appropriate clinical assessment. The telephone conversation allows the chiropractor to hear your concerns, ask preliminary questions and discuss whether a face-to-face assessment may be appropriate.
What happens during the hands-on check?
With your consent, the chiropractor may briefly observe or check relevant movement, posture or physical areas. It is limited in scope and is not a substitute for a full examination.
Do I need the free check before booking the £60 offer?
No. If you are ready for a complete consultation and examination, you can book the £60 assessment directly.
Will I definitely be accepted for chiropractic care?
Not necessarily. Chiropractic care is not automatically appropriate for every complaint or every person. The chiropractor may recommend a full assessment, suggest seeking advice elsewhere or explain that further medical investigation may be appropriate.
Can I choose between a male and female chiropractor?
Please ask the reception team about current practitioner availability when arranging your appointment.
